Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE) have launched the latest addition to their high performance elastomer sealing solutions with the introduction of an extreme low temperature FFKM range branded Perlast ICE.
The Perlast ICE range includes two grades, a 75 durometer material and a ground breaking 90 durometer explosive decompression (ED) resistant material for high pressure environments. Both Perlast ICE materials offer the chemical resistance superiority associated with perfluoroelastomers (FFKM) combined with extremely low temperature capabilities down to -46°C, making them suitable for use in API 6A and 6D wellhead equipment and pipeline valves.
During recent O-ring leak testing, it was proven that at a pressure of 1000 psi Perlast ICE G90LT could provide sealing down to -60°C and at 9000 psi the material sealed down to -80°C. The exceptional low temperature properties of Perlast ICE have been achieved by optimising the fundamental structure of the polymer which provides consistent, reliable performance.
Perlast ICE G90LT is tested to NORSOK M710 and is set to become the essential perfluoroelastomer sealing solution for the oil and gas industry. With exploratory work being carried out in increasingly hostile, sub-zero environments, companies are seeking innovative new products that perform consistently, are cost effective and easy to source. The Perlast ICE range has been developed to meet customers’ needs; consistently delivering effective sealing in the most demanding applications.
