Luxembourg-based SISTO Armaturen S.A., part of the KSB Group, has received a major order from an international pharmaceutical company. Around 2,000 valves are to be supplied for the construction of a new pharmaceutical production plant in Germany. The new plant will manufacture active ingredients and intermediates and marks an important step in the company's capacity expansion.
The valves used had to meet particularly high requirements in terms of process safety and emission protection. In addition to compliance with the technical specifications of TA-Luft 12.2021, FDA conformity of all components in contact with the media also had to be guaranteed. The decisive factors for the award of the contract were the high delivery capability and the precise implementation of the project-specific requirements.
Diaphragm valves are the focus
Most of the order is for SISTO-20 diaphragm valves. These have a two-part TFM/EPDM diaphragm and a PTFE lining that meets the requirements of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Around two thirds of the valves are equipped with a compact pneumatic actuator made of stainless steel.
The valves in the SISTO-20 series are particularly suitable for applications in the fine chemicals industry, as only the inside of the housing and the chambered diaphragm encounter the pumped medium. Their robust design with rear diaphragm support ensures a long service life and operational reliability. They are used successfully in a wide variety of production plants around the world.
The order will be supplemented by around 100 manually operated shut-off valves from the ZXLBV series, which are equipped with a metal seal and bellows. The project is scheduled for completion in 2025. The implementation underlines the technical expertise of SISTO Armaturen S.A. and its ability to meet complex customer requirements flexibly and reliably.
