At the beginning of February, the French tire manufacturer Michelin announced the acquisition of the US sealing manufacturer Flexitallic. With this purchase, Michelin significantly expands its portfolio in the field of sealing solutions while simultaneously strengthening its position in the aftermarket business.
Flexitallic, headquartered in Houston, is regarded as a global leader in high-performance gaskets, particularly for applications in the energy and chemical industries. These sectors are characterized by stringent safety requirements. The company has established itself through highly reliable and durable products capable of withstanding even extreme operating conditions.
The acquisition is part of the Group’s “Michelin in Motion 2030” strategy. Within this framework, the Michelin Group is developing new, high-margin business areas based on its technological expertise. Flexitallic fits strategically into this concept: both companies operate internationally and share strong commitments to innovation and product quality — a combination expected to generate additional growth momentum.
Financing from Existing Funds
Flexitallic operates 17 sites worldwide and manufactures a broad range of composite material gaskets, gasket sheets, and specialty fillers. The company employs around 1,200 people and generated revenue of approximately €195 million in 2025. Subject to customary adjustments and antitrust approvals, the transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2026. The acquisition will be financed entirely from Michelin’s existing cash reserves.
