Every year, LESER produces 150,000 safety valves in Hohen¬westedt, Schleswig-Holstein. The company is currently planning to expand the plant by 14,300 square metres. The last production expansion was completed in 2018.
However, the current space capacity is no longer sufficient to meet the growing customer business and the requirements for new technologies and an efficient material flow, the company announced. Building construction will begin in February 2024, so that the building is scheduled for completion in December 2024. LESER is investing 41.2 million euros in this construction project. In addition, further expansion steps are planned until 2032 as part of the plant structure planning.
CO2-neutral production
The existing production, logistics and office space is now fully occupied and partly compressed. The current space allocation does not guarantee an optimal flow of material and makes further growth difficult. As part of the production expansion, the company is also investing in new equipment in order to control the production processes even more efficiently. In the process, an automated long-goods warehouse is created, which is directly connected to new sawing machines.
For the new building, a planning company was commissioned to create a holistic energy concept. This supports LESER's goal of CO2-neutral production by 2035. CO2 neutrality is achieved in Scope 1 (direct emissions from own facilities and processes) and Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased electricity, steam or heat).
