The valve manufacturer müller coax has added a new valve to its catalog. The reason for this is a custom-made product for a client.
Customized solutions for customers are part of müller coax's offering. If required, valves are designed and manufactured to meet the needs of the customer, such as the new version of its coaxial valve that the manufacturer has now launched.
Tailor-made solution
It took the müller coax team only six weeks to develop the new valve. The first drafts were produced just one month later. Amongst other things, the new component is characterized by its compact design.
"In order to improve, it is important to be close to the market and to know our customers' concerns. This includes following up a request for quotation in concrete terms. A possible solution is often found through further discussion. Or, as in this case, created for the customer,” says Stanislav Hoerdt, Head of Export at müller coax.
The customer needed a custom-fit solution for conveying a wide variety of media with a variable mixing ratio. Valve resistance plays a particularly important role here. To avoid contamination and damage to the system, the application must be completely leak-free.
Saving time and costs with the 3D printer
In cross-departmental collaboration, müller coax designed the valve and manufactured a prototype. Various components, such as connection pieces and internal parts, were produced by the employees using a 3D printer. According to the company, this has been serving the company well for some time in prototype and test bench construction. The procedure is not only more cost-efficient, but also saves time and is easier to implement than using a milling machine.
In addition to the space-saving design, the new coaxial valve offers fast switching times and reliable closing, even with contaminated media. A drip edge allows residual media to drain off. The valve therefore guarantees high process reliability and low power consumption. It can also be installed quickly thanks to the plug & play design.
