müller co-ax gmbh is expanding the range of applications for its TÜV-certified safety shut-off valves: From July 2025, these will also be officially approved for use with HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil). HVO is a synthetic, paraffinic fuel derived from vegetable oils and waste materials such as used cooking fats – an environmentally friendly alternative to fossil diesel that helps reduce CO₂ emissions.
With this approval, müller co-ax is underlining the future viability of its safety shut-off valves and consistently aligning its product portfolio with sustainable energy sources.
coax's TÜV-tested valves stand for reliable function and maximum operational safety with liquid media. They offer excellent tightness – even with frequent switching – and remain fully functional even under challenging conditions such as vibrations, temperature fluctuations, or contamination. The valves are designed for medium temperatures up to 140 °C and pressures up to 40 bar and can be easily integrated into automated process control systems.
In an emergency, the valves perform a key protective function by preventing the uncontrolled escape of hazardous media and enabling rapid, safe isolation of plant components.
Clear signal for climate protection and innovation
coax® safety shut-off valves are used in numerous safety-critical applications – from industrial and heating systems to chemical and energy technology, network infrastructures, and fuel systems. With TÜV approval for HVO, müller co-ax is sending a clear signal in favour of sustainable technologies and offering customers even greater flexibility – without additional effort or costs.
“The extension of the approval to HVO demonstrates our commitment to developing solutions that are both technologically and ecologically future-oriented,” emphasizes Heinz Hirschlein, Product Manager at müller co-ax gmbh.
High-temperature valves for animal fat applications (up to 160 °C and 40 bar) will also be expanded for use with HVO in the future. This further expands müller co-ax's expertise in the field of alternative fuels and creates new opportunities for biogenic applications.
Valves delivered before July 2025 can also be used for operation with HVO. This requires retrofitting with an updated type of plate and a new certificate number by müller co-ax. Thanks to TÜV approval, coax® safety shut-off valves are now also ideally suited for biofuels such as HVO – a further step towards sustainable energy supply.
