With a big celebration, Leser GmbH & Co. KG celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its new “Factory of Safety Valves” in Hohenwestedt, Schleswig-Holstein, on June 12, 2025. More than 500 guests, including employees, representatives from business and associations as well as Mayor Jan Butenschön and District Administrator Ingo Sanders, gathered in the new building. Together with the construction company Bartram and the skilled workers involved in the construction, another milestone was set in the company's 200-year history.
The plant expansion, in which the Hamburg-based family business is investing 45 million euros, offers 15,000 m² of state-of-the-art infrastructure and meets the KFW40 energy standard. Owner Martin Leser, District Administrator Sander, Mayor Butenschön and numerous project participants celebrated the ground-breaking ceremony on the snow-covered construction site on November 22, 2024.
Managing Director Joachim Klaus hosted the event and highlighted the smooth construction phase in his speech: "We are delighted that construction went so smoothly. The Leser project team and I would like to thank our construction general contractor Bartram and its employees as well as all the associated trades for their tireless professional commitment. Let's celebrate this stage of Leser's future together".
The new hall relies on energy-efficient technologies. An air-water heat pump heating system in the low-temperature range uses heat recovery from ventilation and process waste heat. In future, autonomous transport robots will take over the material flow between prefabrication and final production, thus relieving the logistics employees who previously had to walk more than ten kilometers per shift.
