With a highly automated service center in Baden-Württemberg, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is expanding its European logistics and service capabilities. In addition to streamlining operations, the facility is designed to drive sustainable material development.
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has opened a new European service center in Gärtringen, Baden-Württemberg. The facility is geared toward both the European and global markets and is designed to provide customers with enhanced logistics and service offerings.
The new facility relies on highly automated processes throughout the entire supply chain—from goods receipt to shipping. In total, the center offers capacity for 60,000 containers. Internal goods transport is handled by 32 robots that move the goods to one of the 26 ports. The system is supplemented by a pallet warehouse and a driverless transport system with ten automated forklifts.
Expanded service and logistics capabilities
The service center will play a central role within the company’s European logistics structure going forward. Covering an area of 16,000 square meters, the facility will provide additional capacity for various value-added services. These include, among other things, kitting, packaging solutions, and cutting operations.
In addition, the facility offers industry-specific services such as cleanroom handling, component assembly, and coating processes. The offering is complemented by various services in the area of quality assurance.
Focus on sustainable material development
According to the company, the new facility is a key component of its ongoing infrastructure expansion. The site also includes a dedicated Material Innovation Center, where new polymer formulations for sealing solutions are developed.
In addition, the complex features a recycling development area. There, Trelleborg works on sustainable material solutions and their integration into existing production processes.
Engineers and specialists are developing, among other things, material formulations that can be recovered and recycled without compromising the performance of the respective applications.
