Shortly before Christmas, Prof. Dr. Jan Hilligardt, District President of the Darmstadt Regional Council, presented Dr. Andreas Widl, CEO of SAMSON AG, with the approval notice for the construction and operation of a new electroplating plant at a festive event on the Innovation Campus in Offenbach.
This plant is an important part of the surface treatment process in the production of valves and is crucial for the durability and longevity of the products. The plant, which increases throughput by around 30 %, contributes to the expansion of production capacities and meets high environmental and occupational safety standards.
Dr. Andreas Widl commented: “The notice of approval marks a significant moment for us. We are one step closer to opening our new factory in Offenbach.” He continued: “Thanks to the excellent collaboration between the regional council in Darmstadt, the relevant authorities and our planning consultant QUBUS, we have managed to reach this milestone sooner than we expected. The approval grants us planning certainty so that we can push on with our plans.”
SAMSON moves from Frankfurt to Offenbach
The approval process for the new electroplating plant in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) included detailed checks in the areas of air pollution control, noise protection and wastewater treatment. All requirements were met on time and in close cooperation with the relevant authorities. In addition, the building application for the relevant building was an integral part of this process. This application was already approved in August 2024 and a second factory building is currently being built on this site on the new SAMSON campus in Offenbach.
The construction of the electroplating plant marks a central point in the extensive relocation of SAMSON AG from Frankfurt to Offenbach. With an investment of almost 400 million euros, SAMSON is demonstrating a clear commitment to the future of the company and to strengthening Germany as a production location.
