Air Liquide has received RFNBO certification (Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin) for its 20-megawatt electrolyzer in Oberhausen. This is the first certification of its kind in Germany. The certificate, issued on April 2, 2025, is based on the ISCC-EU certification scheme and was carried out with the support of the independent auditor DEKRA Certification.

Core Network: Nowega Commissions First Network Section

Hydrogen is now flowing in southwestern Lower Saxony. The transmission system operator Nowega has commissioned the first section of its hydrogen network between Lingen and Bad Bentheim. The 55-kilometer section is part of the hydrogen core network and consists of 95 percent existing natural gas pipelines that have been converted for hydrogen transport.

Core Network Financing: First Millions Paid Out from Amortization Account

The German federal government has given the starting signal for financing the nationwide hydrogen core network. On March 24, KfW Bank paid out the first 172 million euros to the amortization account. The following day, the funds were transferred to the hydrogen core network operators.
