ABB has won an order to provide a large West Coast Wastewater Treatment Plant with a multi-phase distributed control system (DCS) solution upgrade. The three-phased program, which also includes DCS services and expertise, is scheduled for completion by 2011.
Phases Four and Five will be scheduled for a later date. The wastewater treatment plant ultimately decided to upgrade the DCS solution with a technologically-advanced ABB DCS services platform by agreeing to the first phase of an “Evolution by Enhancement Plan.”
ABB recognized the unique needs of the wastewater treatment plant and provided customized DCS services and expertise over the past two years to develop a long-term solution. A DCS is a distributed control system that regulates a process (manufacturing, chemical or other) from a series of strategic positions in the plant, as opposed to a single, centralized control unit.
