US-based Emerson Process Management has won a deal to provide control valves worth USD 2 million for Westinghouse Electric Co.'s new generation of AP1000 nuclear power plants.
The contract also includes additional USD 3 million agreements for more power plants scheduled to be built in the US. The Fisher SS84 valves will be used in the pressuriser spray system to maintain reactor coolant temperature in the plant.
The valves will firstly be fitted to the nuclear plant in development in China, comprising of two reactors each in the Sanmen Nuclear and Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant. Sanmen is due to start operations in 2013 while Haiyang will be brought online in 2014.
