Huisman introduces new large offshore cranes

Huisman, the in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions specialist, recently introduced a new series of large offshore cranes. The new series include cranes with lifting capacities ranging up to 900t that have been developed to meet the increasing demands of the offshore construction and subsea market. The design incorporates multiple unique features that make these sophisticated cranes suitable for operations in ultra-deep water but also in harsh marine environments.

The new offshore crane series have been based on the successful 200/400t offshore mast crane of which 15 pieces have been sold so far. The series include the following new cranes: a 300t/600t AHC subsea crane and a 450t/900t AHC subsea crane. The main hoist of the new cranes will be outfitted with either a 300m or 450m traction winch. A storage winch will be placed in the hold of the vessel to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible. This winch can store 200m, 400m or 600m of wire rope.
Huisman has already received two orders for the new cranes. The first order was received from the VARD (former STX OSV) shipyard in Norway. The 900t AHC subsea crane will be installed on a 161m offshore subsea construction vessel (OSCV) for the Norwegian DOF Subsea. The second crane, a 600t AHC subsea crane, will be installed on a new 160m DP3 Heavy Construction and Flexible Pipelay Vessel for Subsea 7. The vessel will be built by the Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries.
