LESER receives DNV GL certificate for POSV
Pilot-operated safety valves (POSVs) from LESER’s ‘High Efficiency’ product group are now approved by DNV GL for use on ships, FPSOs and oil platforms. Dr Robert Surma, head of Unit Ship Systems, Materials and Components from DNV GL handed over the certificate to Mirko Engel, managing director – Sales from LESER, at the SMM. DNV GL examined the product applications, materials, drawings, strength calculations and performance certificates of the safety valves according to the regulations of Det Norske Veritas.
LESER safety valves meet the requirements of all important worldwide standards and codes such as PED and ASME VIII, as well as also those of many national codes. Their function and capacities are certified by the UV stamp and CE mark, among others. Approvals by ship classification societies are especially important for use in maritime or offshore environments. Apart from the approvals of DNV GL, LESER safety valves also meet the requirements of four other ship classes and of the US Coast Guard.
The ‘High Efficiency’ safety valves can be used at pressures up to 256bar and are suitable for protection of applications with steam, gas and liquid. The product is undergoing continuous further development and the model for pressures up to 426bar is expected to be presented shortly.
