A global company that provides automation solutions and services for the pulp, paper and energy industries has made a change to its management team. Janne Pynnönen took up the position of Senior Vice President for Operational Development at Valmet on 1 February 2024.
Janne Pynnönen started his career at Valmet in 2020, most recently holding the position of Vice President, R&D. Before joining the Finnish company, he had worked at Stora Enso since 2003 in various management, development and R&D roles. “After a thorough recruitment process with many excellent candidates, we have chosen Janne Pynnönen to continue leading our Operational Development division”, says CEO Pasi Laine, to whom Pynnönen will report in the future.
“Janne is known for his deep technological expertise and good customer knowledge, which he has acquired through many years of working in one of Valmet's most important customer industries. Since 2020, Janne has successfully led our R&D department by introducing and implementing a new strategy and vision for Valmet, further developing the way of working and building an extensive R&D ecosystem programme called Beyond Circularity to support the green transition.”
Janne Pynnönen succeeds Julia Macharey, who left the company at the end of January, as announced in August 2023.
