Service employees who work in the service, repair and maintenance of wind turbines are aware of the problem of working in hard-to-reach places - possibly without a power supply. The hydraulic screwdriver and the power pack have to be transported to the work area.
Access to the screw case is often very difficult. Sometimes you have to crawl into cavities or narrow spaces. Or you have to take the lift up to the machine house several times before the complete set of tools has been transported up. This takes time and energy.
With the launch of the XA1 power battery unit, Plarad is bringing a product onto the market that will make life easier for service staff on site. The job is much easier for the team as they only have to transport the screwdriver, the hoses and the lightweight, compact battery pack.
This is also an immense advantage in terms of user safety, as the risk of tripping on the power pack's mains cable is significantly reduced. Another advantage is that all work can be carried out regardless of the frequency and voltage of the power supply. This is ideal for international teams in particular, as they are independent of the mains and frequencies on site. The service technicians can concentrate fully on the work to be carried out.
The new battery unit with replaceable batteries is a mobile device with a compact and robust design. An average of 170 screwdriving operations can be carried out with one battery charge. The product is designed for a torque range of up to 150,000 Nm and the operation of hydraulic screwdrivers up to 800 bar. According to Plarad, at just 10 kg (including batteries), it is a lightweight compared to standard 30-40 kg power packs.
