CST Wastewater Solutions has installed a wastewater treatment system at Newcrest's Cadia Valley Operations to purify wastewater.
The Fixed Activated Sludge Treatment is designed to handle 40-120m3 a day of sewage and other effluent from the mine, enabling it to be recycled on-site, according to the company. The treatment system is part of CVO’s ongoing programme to obtain maximum community benefits from a project that will include Australia’s largest underground mine and the world’s fourth largest gold mine, CVO said.
The New South Wales Government has approved AUD 2 billion expansion plans for Cadia Valley which will extend the lifespan of Cadia for at least 20 years.
