Emerson has opened a state-of-the-art innovation center for liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Doha. The new facility supports the goals of Qatar's Vision 2030 with a clear focus on sustainability, technological advancements and the development of local talent. The center acts both as a catalyst for advanced LNG technologies and as an interface with related industries such as offshore exploration, gas processing, refining and petrochemicals.
The center is part of the national TAWTEEN program, which aims to strengthen local value creation. It is intended to serve as an innovation platform where industry-specific challenges can be tackled with creative, future-oriented solutions. Interactive technologies make complex process chains comprehensible and identify efficiency potential. The center also has state-of-the-art training rooms, an interactive technology lab and areas for developing new industrial applications - all with the aim of increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of local industry.
"We are proud to combine world-leading technology with regional expertise. This enables us to create solutions that truly meet the needs of the respective markets," says Mathias Schinzel, President of Emerson Middle East and Africa. “With the new LNG center, we are making an active contribution to economic and social development in Qatar - in line with the national Vision 2030.”
Walid Samara, Vice President for Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait and Jordan, also emphasized the enormous importance of the new opening: "The LNG Solutions Center is a clear commitment to our role as a long-term partner to the industry - especially for companies that are on the path to energy transition and strive for excellence. We are convinced that investing in people and technology is crucial for a sustainable future."
The opening ceremony took place in the presence of numerous representatives from business, science and politics. Guests included representatives from QatarEnergy LNG, North Oil Company, the University of Doha for Science and Technology and international partners such as ExxonMobil and Samsung.
