A new waste incineration plant is currently being built in the Polish capital Warsaw. A valve manufacturer is supplying a comprehensive set of control ball valves, three-way valves and injection coolers for the precise control of the media.
The new plant, consisting of two lines, is expected to process a nominal total of 265,200 tonnes of municipal waste each year. These capacities will make a decisive contribution to improving the local disposal infrastructure once the plant is completed in 2024. According to the European waste hierarchy, thermal recycling is given priority over simple landfilling. Thus, the waste incineration plant contributes to Poland's ability to meet EU requirements for sustainable waste management.
The industrial valves are equipped with electric, pneumatic or handwheel controls. The projecting company Doosan Lentjes opted for ARTES products to ensure the necessary response times depending on the application.
Reduction of the required landfill capacities
Some control ball valves have different nominal diameters at the inlet and outlet of the valve - also a special project requirement in order to be able to reliably control temperature-dependent media volumes.
The control ball valves are equipped with precisely calculated control discs to achieve a defined control characteristic at the different opening angles of the control ball in the valve body.
The feeding of non-recyclable waste into the incineration process enables a reduction of the required landfill capacities and at the same time utilises the energetic potential of the waste. In addition, valuable materials can be recovered from the incineration ash, which can be used for road construction, for example.
