The Canadian province of Alberta is home to the world's third-largest proven crude oil reserves. More than 10,000 knife gate valves from a Swiss valve manufacturer have already been successfully installed in Canada's oil sand deposits.
The knife gate valves operate under harsh conditions as they convey abrasive sludge mixtures and are often installed outdoors. Temperatures there range from -50°C to +35°C. The gate valves are ideally equipped for these conditions.
The robust steel construction, solid wear rings, slide plate edges with tungsten carbide coating and the customised cross seals can withstand highly abrasive media and large temperature fluctuations. The gate valves also offer maximum flexibility, including in the range of nominal diameters, materials or pressures. A universal and robust bonnet can be used for a wide variety of actuator types. In addition, attachments can be fitted easily.
