SIPOS Aktorik offered hands-on actuator training at two Argentinean Pressure Vessel Heavy Water Reactor plants.

Supporting the installation and commissioning at the Buenos Aires sites, engineers and technicians received comprehensive on-site training for maintenance of SIPOS’ SIWI nuclear actuators. Over 600 SIPOS SIWI actuators were installed in the early 1970s at Atucha 1, the first nuclear power plant in Latin America.

A further 80 actuators were installed as part of an upgrade in 2009 and 800 actuators will be commissioned at a sister plant, Atucha 2.

Training encompassed theoretical and practical skills with emphasis for Atucha 1 placed on maintenance according to the German KTA norm based on directives from the Nuclear Safety Standards Commission.
