EagleBurgmann, a company of the Freudenberg Group from Germany and the EKK Group from Japan, intends to carry out a far-reaching modernisation of its production facility in Eurasburg. The aim is to make full use of the plant's digitalisation and automation capabilities by implementing AutoStore technology from Kardex.
The production site in Eurasburg is facing significant changes. EagleBurgmann wants to transform the historically grown building structures and the fragmented logistics across different buildings and floors. Building 86 in particular will be optimised in terms of incoming goods, outgoing goods and central warehousing. For the modernisation of existing buildings, the company intends to focus on a “brownfield solution”.
“The implementation of the AutoStore solution is a decisive step towards modernising our logistics processes and being able to fully exploit our future growth potential”, emphasises Walter Fischer, Operations Director at EagleBurgmann.
The aim of implementing the new automated warehouse is to centralise logistics with maximum consolidation and storage capacity. By consolidating small, decentralised storage areas at the site, valuable production space can be gained. The new AutoStore solution offers space for around 19,800 containers and is operated by 24 state-of-the-art Red Line (R5) robots. Raw parts, semi-finished parts for production supply and spare parts are stored in the AutoStore, which ensures an improved workflow.
Existing conveyor technology is being modernised
The project in Eurasburg not only includes the AutoStore system. As part of the project, the existing conveyor technology will also be converted and integrated into a new control concept. With an annual service contract, Kardex also guarantees maximum availability and long-term support over the entire life cycle of the system.
For EagleBurgmann, the seamless integration of the AutoStore warehouse and the associated processes into the customer's existing SAP WM system was a decisive factor in the collaboration with Kardex. The software solution was realised together with the partner StatusC. However, technical expertise alone was not the only decisive element.
“We were deeply impressed by the 'Kardex way'”, explains Walter Fischer. “From the very first moment, I felt that EagleBurgmann and Kardex were on the same wavelength. It was important for us to have a partner at our side not only during the sales phase, but also during realisation, who would guide us safely through the process.” Falko Menz, Operations Manager at EagleBurgmann, adds: “I look forward to the AutoStore going into operation and my logistics team being able to work together with the Kardex AutoStore team.”
