More and more wind turbines are turning at lofty heights, and an increasing number of photovoltaic plants are enjoying a spot in the sun. Bioenergy, geothermal energy, and hydropower also ensure the right mix of renewable energies and contribute to the gradual shift away from fossil fuels. This transition, however, would be inconceivable without components from the valve industry.
Renewable energies are on track for success: With a capacity increase of 473 gigawatts for a total capacity of 3,870 gigawatts, in 2023 alternative energies set a new record for the electricity sector. According to a report by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), 73 percent of the growth in renewables came from solar energy and 24 percent from wind power. In Asia particularly, the proportion climbed significantly.
These figures provide hope in the face of climate change. In addition to the environmental benefits, it is good news for the industry as well, as the energy transition will also involve a huge programme of investment. But the industry has to deliver quality...which it does!

Quality Valves for the Energy Transition Expectations are high: Different pressure ranges in water extraction, pre- and post-treatment, during reverse osmosis, as well as the corrosion potential of the salt water, place great demands on the valves. The industry is rising to the challenge with corresponding dimensioning and suitable materials. And is increasingly relying on digitalisation: This is because it increases efficiency, detects potential problems in the system at an early stage, and identifies opportunities for improvement. This makes systems more cost-effective, which is a plus for the global market as new plants become increasingly easy to finance. Turning to the sea for water supply is thus becoming a reality.
