The food industry has an appetite for more

Healthier, more sustainable, vegan and with plenty of variety – consumers' expectations of food have risen dramatically in recent years. A development that also poses challenges for the fittings industry. But the sector has long since acquired a taste for such trends – because it serves up the solutions.

Whether its for the treatment of water and raw materials, dosing of a wide range of media, packaging the food, or for the subsequent cleaning and sterilisation of the systems: valves and actuators reliably perform their work in all areas of the process. All this with the most stringent requirements in terms of aseptics, efficiency and safety. Perfect hygiene is nothing less than the foundation of the food industry’s business, ensuring it can continue providing great culinary delights in the future.

Special designs and sealing
To address these major challenges, the food industry needs fittings which have been designed to minimise gaps, corners and dead spaces. Obviously, corrosion and bacteria due to unsuitable designs are absolutely unacceptable when it comes to foodstuffs. Also indispensable here are special seals that are resistant to the chemical substances used in cleaning and do not cause any changes in taste or colour when in contact with food.

As the variety of food products being made increases, plants also need to be configured in a variable way. Therefore, it should be possible to use components flexibly – ensuring that the food industry retains its appetite for more quality fittings and actuators.
